In the fourth column of Entry No. 124 in the Register Book of Births for the year 1880 before the name of the child's mother insert Alexander Rothney, farm servant, on the authority of a Certificate in the form of Schedule F to the following effect: In an action relating to the paternity of a female child born at Kinknockie in the Parish of Old Deer, on the 2nd of November 1880, at the instance of Poor [sic] Helen Barclay, Kinknockie, Old Deer, against Alexander Rothney, farm servant Petty Marcus, Old Deer, the Sheriff Court of Aberdeen and Kincardine (Peterhead District) upon the 10th of December 1880 found that the said child was the illegitimate child of the said Helen Barclay and Alexander Rothney. January 24th, 1881 at Old Deer, Robert Wilson, Registrar.
