  Alexander Duff also obtained his freedom and rights and became a burgess of Edinburgh by right of his father, James Duff, a clock and watchmaker. Although as of January 13, 2004, I still have not discovered the mother of James, Alexander's son, I have picked up what appears to be a second marriage for Alexander, vizt: Alexander Duff, culter of Old Kirk parish and Elizabeth, daughter of Nathan Paterson, a glover, Elizabeth also of Old Kirk parish, married 25 Mar 1786.
