      Ashes scattered at Hollow Shore

Mrs. W. Ballard of 17 Abbey Street, Faversham, who has died in Herne Bay Hospital, after a short illness, loved to recall her years at Hollow Shore.

She was born at the Shipwrights Arms there 61 years ago [bc 1893], her father, Mr. George Edward Gregory, having been the licensee for many years, as well as a member of the Old Faversham Oyster Fishing Company.

It was her wish that on her death her ashes should be scattered on the shore and in the sea nearby, and after the cremation at Charing, her wish was fulfilled.

Mrs. Ballard leaves a husband, a son, and a daughter, who in a statement thank the present licensee, Major J. Jobey, for his gesture of respect in lowering the hostelfy flag to half-mast during the ceremony.
