Notes |
- 1920 census states that Clara arrived in the U.S. during 1902 and was naturalized during 1913. She is living with her second husband Henry Tuttle, who was aged 31, born Massachusetts and was a manager on a diary farm.
Clara Tong (nee Duncan) and her young son, Archibald H. Tong, then aged 2, were located on passenger arrival lists for 11 March 1910. She landed at Boston having sailed aboard the Ivernia from Southampton in England. Her passenger record records her closest kin from the country she was leaving as being, Mrs. Elizabeth Duncan, her mother, at Faversham. Clara records her previous address as being Nashua, New Hampshire. She also indicated that her son had been born at Nashua and that Mrs. Elizabeth Duncan was his grandmother.
The 1910 census was taken on 15 April 1910 and accordingly, Clara and her son, Archibald, had returned home by that time. This passenger arrival record is the first hint at just how frequently our family remembers the numerous trips made by Lizzie and her children across the Atlantic Ocean.
