      Christening of Eloi Gallien:
      (Note: The french word which was used to describe Baziel, namely "tenancier", means both tenant and housekeeper. Other records would have to be examined before you would be able to determine if he owned property or just rented property.)

      The 23 October in the year 1808, we, the undersigned, beg the ceremonies of the baptism of Eloy born 12 August last of the legitimate marriage of Bazile Gallien, tenant, and of Rosalie Doiron his wife, deceased. Godfather, Isaac(?) Doiron, young man (this may signify Junior as opposed to Senior). The godmother, Ursule Doiron, young woman, uncle and aunt of the said child who were not able to sign of the (one last word which I cannot make out even from other entries but I believe it refers to the signing of the register.).

      Marriage of Eloi Galien & Marie Chouinard:

      The 17 November 1829, after the publication of two banns of marriage made with the praise of our parochial mass and foregoing the exemption of the third publication, between Eloi Galien, of full age, son of Bazile Galien and Rosalie Doiron, of this parish on the one hand; and Marie Chouinard, a minor, daughter of Guilliaume Chouinard and Marie Arseneau, of this parish, of the other part; no impediment being uncovered and the respective parents declaring consent of the said marriage, ourself, the undersigned Missionary Priest, having their mutual assent and they having received the bridal blessing in the presence of Flavi Chouinard, Raphael Blancharde, Pierre Godin, Pierre Lantaigne, friends of the husband who were not able to sign.
