McAloney, Edith Catharine [sic - should have been Catherine] - Peacefully with the Lord on Saturday, August 4, 2001, at Albright Manor, after a lengthy illness. Edith, formerly of St. Catharines will be fondly remembered and loved by her friends. Wife of the late Robert McAloney (1961). Beloved mother of Mary Ryan (nee McAloney). Loving and devoted grandmother of Lauri Ascott and her husband Dale, Debbie Hance and David Thomson and his wife Liz. Dearly loved by her great grandchildren Joshua and Sabrina, Ryan, Devin and Brennin, Robbie and Katie. Beloved sister of Lillian and her husband Reg Penny. Devoted aunt of Susan Young. Predeceased by a sister Doris Barnhart (1979). Edith was loved by all whom she touched. Edith owned and operated Edith's Beauty Shop for many years and lived a very active life enjoying many crafts and baking. Edith was a long time member of First United Church.
Edith McAloney is at the downtown chapel of the Butler Funeral Home, 33 Duke Street at James (behind the Court House 905-684-2334). Service in the chapel on Thursday, August 9, 2001 at 2 p.m. Cremation to follow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations to the Alzheimers Society would be appreciated by the family.
