Pear Tree Cottage:
Charles Vaughan, head, married, 45, saddler, born Surrey Murston [NB: first had been stated as N.K. meaning Not known then crossed through with Murston written above it.]

Thomas Charles Vaughan, son, 10, born Middlesex Chelsea
Clara Vaughan, daughter, 8, born Middlesex Chelsea
Fanny Vaughan, daughter, 6, born Middlesex Chelsea

Curiously, next to the entries for each of Charles and Virtue there is a checkmark in the column that asks if blind or deaf and dumb. There is nothing in the family history, nor on either of their death certificates to indicate or imply that either Charles or Virtue suffered from blindness or were deaf and dumb.

An abstract of the entry of the marriage of Charles Vaughan and Virtue Poulsom has finally been found and obtained. With the aid of www.familyhistoryonline.net the long elusive marriage was discovered having been indexed in the West Middlesex Marriage Index.
Charles and Virtue were both single at the time of their marriage and each of them specified that they were resident in the parish of St. Mary Abbots, Kensington where the marriage took place.
The most exciting discovery, however, was that the abstract included the names of the two witnesses at the marriage: Sarah Susannah Seaton and William Seaton. Follow-up of this new Seaton clue is underway.
